Church is situated on the corner of School Lane and High Street Harpole. Walk south
down the High Street and then right into Park Lane to join a footpath at
the end of the lane. Continue in a
southerly direction, crossing fence line at a stile, and then through an
open hedge line to reach a metal gate in the right hand corner of the
field, this gate gives access onto the A45 dual carriageway. Cross road
and continue in a southerly direction to the remains of Harpole Mill.
After crossing the mill pond and the River Nene take the right
hand path to join the Nene Way long distance path where it passes under
the M1 motorway. Continue on
the Nene Way path until you have passed Bugbrooke Mill, a landmark that
cannot be missed due to its grain silo’s.
The path follows the perimeter of the mill site, first following
the water course and then in a westerly direction.
After approximately half a mile the route leaves the Nene Way
turning left, now in a southerly direction, to a gate and access to a
green lane. Follow this
lane to emerge on the Kislingbury road in Bugbrooke Turn right on
the Kislingbury road and then right again into Church Lane to arrive at
St Michael’s Church. Bugbrooke has
general provision stores, two Public Houses and accommodation.
The village has road and path links to the Grand Union Canal,
many of the paths are suitable for disabled person carriers and young
families.
