Northamptonshire Round |
||
Latest Change:The TFC have surveyed further walks, (petals to the Northamptonshire Rose), for our reader's delight. We are currently working with the Northamptonshire County Council to upgrade the paths, but due to limits on funds this may take some time. To provide you with additional walks on legal footpaths we are publishing these on a separate website at tenfootclubwalks.org.uk, latest update in February 2008 has added 3 new walks to the list. Two of these walks are from 'Guest' organisation, an idea we are encouraging to involve other individuals or organisation to let people know about their favourite walks. Look out for an article on the Northamptonshire Round in the Inspire Magazine produced by Jackson Grundy, the Northamptonshire Estate Agents. Click here for an article in the Walking magazine written by our good friend Christopher Summerville. We have had one stalwart character complete the whole 'Round' in a day. Tony Pancoust did the walk and was kind enough to write up his experiences which we have entered here under Tony's Trek. Christopher Somerville of the Daily Telegraph joined up with the TFC to sample the pleasures of walking in Northamptonshire with the resulting article appearing in the paper on the 30th October 2004 and we have added a copy to our website. |

| The Northamptonshire Round was
set up for us to give a walk or selection of walks to others in
recompense for the pleasure gained from walks organized by others. It is
designed to show people some of the delightful villages and sights
around Northamptonshire.
We are not content to settle for just this one walk the intention is to develop other walks into the Northamptonshire countryside from this basic hub. To keep up to date with the situation you may wish to visit this site from time to time and download an update. Alternatively you can contact us by e-mail. Constructive comments and information on changes will always be welcome at our e-mail address. |

IntroductionBack in the dim distant past 5 fellows got together to walk some of the long distant foot paths that appeared to be around the countryside. Some wag named it the Ten Foot Club where, between the five of us, we measure over 28 feet tall. Since that first fateful day we have walk in excess of 2,000 miles in all weathers, (mainly tipping it down with rain) and have covered England from East to West and from South Coast to the bottom of the Pennine Way. The club has raised money for the Macmillan nurses by completing a charity walk of the Macmillan Way. It has also been involved in the route finding for the Jurassic Way across Northamptonshire. |
